Mature Dating in London: Meet Mature Singles in London

Friday evenings at Tate Modern, deer in Richmond Park and three very different corners to choose from: London has plenty for singles in their 40s to 70s.

Good company: more than 2.5 million Londoners are 50 or over

Mature dating in London means a patchwork of neighbourhoods joined by Tube, tram and train, from inner-city Islington to Croydon’s tram-served centre and the south-east suburb of Elmers End. Sage Dating has members across Greater London.

At the 2021 census the Office for National Statistics counted 8,799,725 people in the Greater London region, its 33 local authorities together. Of them, 28.8% were aged 50 or over, against 37.8% across England, and 16.9% were aged 50 to 64. Younger than the country, then, but 2,533,410 people make a decent crowd.

Greater London takes in places as different as these three, shown with the share of each borough aged 50 or over at the 2021 census.

Islington, 24.9%
Angel station on the Northern line is said to have the longest escalators on the Underground, a climb of 27 m.
Croydon, 32.3%
A large town 9.5 miles south of Charing Cross, with a tram system of its own. On the fastest trains, East Croydon is about 16 minutes from Victoria and 29 from St Pancras.
Elmers End, in Bromley, 37.2%
A south-east London suburb beside the Croydon boundary, with trains to Charing Cross and Cannon Street, and trams too. South Norwood Country Park, close by, is a 47-hectare Local Nature Reserve on former sewage farms, which is nicer than it sounds.
