Yes, and you have more choice than you might think
Yes, several. Sage Dating is built for singles in their 40s to 70s, OurTime is for the over-50s, and Saga Connections is aimed at them too. Match, eharmony, Plenty of Fish and Telegraph Dating take adults of any age, and Stitch is a community for over-50s that says it isn’t a dating site.
SilverSingles is the odd one out. Its UK website has closed, and the name now runs on a separate .com website under another company. It gets a note at the foot of the table, and a section of its own further down.
Which one suits you depends on the ages you’d like to meet, how you like to be matched, how the site charges and whether you want events or an app. The table puts the options side by side, and the sections after it help you choose.
Which mature dating sites work in the UK?
Sage Dating is our own site, so it sits in the table with the same few details as the rest. The details come from each company’s own pages (or archived copies of them), app-store listings and terms. Prices change often, which is why the last column covers how each option charges and what its paid plans are called, not what they cost. Our dating site comparisons go deeper on four of them.
| Option | Who it is for | How it works | Basic account and paid options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sage Dating | Built for the 40s to 70s | Daily matches and swiping, in your browser | Classic; paid VIP and VIP Plus |
| OurTime | Singles over 50 | Daily profile picks and local activities | Basic account; paid Essential Pass and Premium Pass |
| Match | Adults of any age | Search or browse, daily picks, singles events | Basic profile; paid Essential, Premium and Prestige |
| eharmony | Adults of any age | Quiz first, then scored matches | Basic; paid Premium on fixed terms |
| Plenty of Fish | Adults of any age | Swiping, search and chat | Basic account; optional paid plans and tokens |
| Saga Connections | Open from 18, aimed at over-50s | Run for Saga by Dating Lab; matches on shared interests | Join as a member; paid plan to message |
| Telegraph Dating | Adults of any age | Run for Telegraph Media Group by Dating Lab | Join, then a paid plan |
| Stitch | Over-50s | A community of activities and group events | Limited account; paid plans on top |
| Silver | Singles over 50 | UK website has closed; name now runs under another company | UK sign-up not confirmed; see them side by side |
How to choose the one that suits you
Which is the best mature dating site in the UK? It depends on you. Six questions will get you most of the way, and none of them needs a spreadsheet.
- Which ages would you like to meet?
- Start with the age rule, because it shapes everything else. OurTime is for singles over 50, and Sage Dating is built around the 40s to the 70s. Match, eharmony, Plenty of Fish and Telegraph Dating take adults of any age. Saga Connections markets itself to over-50s, but its terms let adults from 18 join. The age mix of our own UK members is on the over 40s dating page.
- How would you like to be matched?
- A compatibility quiz is where eharmony begins, and it says your answers build a personality profile and a score for each match. OurTime and Match both send a daily selection of profiles by email and phone notification. Plenty of Fish says you can swipe through profiles or search. Sage Dating sends daily suggestions shaped by age range, distance, what you’re looking for and your interests, and you can swipe through members if you prefer.
- How does it charge, and does it renew?
- OurTime, Match, eharmony and Saga Connections keep full messaging for their paid plans. Those four, together with Plenty of Fish, describe subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel, and Plenty of Fish also sells tokens for extras such as Boosts and Super Likes. On Sage Dating you start on Classic, with a set number of messages a day. VIP lifts that limit, and every plan except the 12-month ones renews automatically at the same price until you cancel. Whichever site you pick, find the renewal terms before you pay. Ours are on the pricing page.
- Do you want events as well as online chat?
- Some options reach beyond the screen, for anyone who would rather swap the keyboard for a table and a cup of tea. OurTime lists local activities such as singles outings, dinners, workshops and weekend trips, and the Match site mentions singles events in cities including London, Edinburgh and Manchester. Stitch describes itself as a community built around activities and group events. Our guide to where to meet mature singles in the UK looks at the offline side too.
- Would you rather use an app or a browser?
- OurTime, Match, eharmony and Plenty of Fish each have an iPhone and an Android app. Sage Dating opens in your phone’s browser with nothing to download, and you can add it to your home screen like an app; our mature dating app page shows how. Saga Connections and Telegraph Dating are websites, and no app named after either turned up in the UK app stores on 16 October 2026.
- Who runs it?
- A site’s name and its owner aren’t always the same, so it helps to know who is behind it. OurTime and Match are both run through Meetic, Match Group’s European business, and Plenty of Fish says it’s part of Match Group too. The UK operator of eharmony is eHarmony UK Ltd, which Companies House lists as controlled by the German media group ProSiebenSat.1. Saga Connections is run for Saga, and Telegraph Dating for Telegraph Media Group, by the same company, Dating Lab. Sage Dating’s terms and conditions are linked at the foot of every page.
If you only want to meet people over 50, OurTime is the one built for that. If you like a questionnaire to do some of the choosing, try eharmony. Match and Plenty of Fish suit anyone happy to meet people of every age, and Match runs singles events. Saga Connections leans towards over-50s and its terms say that contacting other members is for paying subscribers, while Telegraph Dating takes adults of any age. Stitch is for company and activities rather than romance. And if you’d like an unhurried site for the 40s to 70s that opens in your browser, that’s Sage Dating.

What happened to SilverSingles?
If you went looking for SilverSingles and found a dead end, you were not imagining it. The UK website has closed. The name now runs on a separate .com website under a different company, SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., with a new member database, and UK sign-up hasn’t been confirmed. Around 1 May 2026, a notice on the .com website said the service had officially closed and that accounts and conversations were no longer available, and by mid-May the name was back as a new service, so anyone returning from the old one should expect to start a fresh profile.
Want the two side by side? Sage Dating vs SilverSingles sets them out.
Sage Dating, for people who like to take their time
Sage Dating has been online since 2019 and is built for UK singles in their 40s to 70s. It welcomes people who are divorced, widowed or have never married, and you need to be 18 or over to join. You start on a Classic membership, with VIP and VIP Plus as the paid plans if you want more, such as unlimited messaging. It opens in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, so there’s nothing to download, and other members see your username and nearest town, never your real name or address.
- Online since 2019
- Built for the 40s to 70s
- Classic, VIP and VIP Plus
- Works in your browser
One more thing to know: Sage Dating also belongs to a network of partner services, so you may meet people who joined through those partners. Our guide to whether Sage Dating is legit goes through the costs, renewals and terms. The features page shows what each membership includes, and About Sage Dating tells the story.
You are far from the only one starting again
Is online dating really that common?
According to Ofcom’s Online Nation 2025 report, 11 per cent of UK online adults visited an online dating site in May 2025. The figure has sat at 10 or 11 per cent in the same month for four years running. It covers adults of every age, so it shows how ordinary online dating has become rather than counting over-50s alone.
How many people are single in later life?
ONS figures for England and Wales put about 9 million people aged 50 and over as never married, divorced or widowed in 2025, and about 8 million as not living with a partner. Across the UK, around 4.25 million people aged 65 and over live alone. Marital status means legal status, not relationship status, so take these as a sense of scale rather than a head count.

A little caution goes a long way on any site
Whichever site you pick, the same few habits apply. Get to know someone through the site’s own messages first, have a video chat before you meet, and choose a busy public place for a first date, telling a friend where you’ll be. Never send money to someone you know only through the site, however kind they seem and however long you have chatted. Our safety advice has the full list, and our guide to romance scams for singles over 40 shows what to watch for if a conversation turns to money.

Yes. OurTime is for singles over 50, Sage Dating is built for the 40s to 70s, and Saga Connections markets itself to over-50s. Match, eharmony, Plenty of Fish and Telegraph Dating take adults of any age, and Stitch offers a community for over-50s.
Which dating sites are only for over-50s?
OurTime is for singles over 50, and Ofcom’s May 2025 figures put it ninth among UK dating services by audience, the only over-50s-only service in its top ten. SeniorMatch and the new SilverSingles also say 50 and over, but UK sign-up isn’t confirmed for either. Stitch is a community for over-50s that says it isn’t a dating site.
Is there a mature dating site that does not need an app?
Yes. Sage Dating opens in your browser with nothing to download, and you can put it on your home screen like an app. Saga Connections and Telegraph Dating are websites, and no app named after either turned up in the UK app stores on 16 October 2026. OurTime, Match, eharmony and Plenty of Fish each have an iPhone and an Android app as well as a website.
Is SilverSingles still open?
The UK website has closed. The name now belongs to a new service run by SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., which says it has an independent member database, and UK sign-up hasn’t been confirmed.
What does a dating site cost?
Each of the eight live options listed here lets you join with a basic account and sells paid plans on top, and prices change often, so check each site before you pay. OurTime, Match, eharmony and Saga Connections keep full messaging for paid plans and describe subscriptions that renew automatically unless you cancel. On Sage Dating you begin with a Classic membership and can move up to VIP or VIP Plus, which run from one week to 12 months. Every plan is on the pricing page.
How common is online dating in the UK?
Fairly common. Ofcom found that 11 per cent of UK online adults visited an online dating site in May 2025, and that share has stayed at 10 or 11 per cent in the same month for four years. Among 55 to 64-year-olds the figure was 6 per cent in May 2024, and those who did visit spent an average of 5 hours 43 minutes there, the longest of any age group.
