Sage Dating vs SilverSingles: Has SilverSingles Closed in the UK?
The UK website has closed and the name now runs elsewhere. Here are the dates, what you can do next and how Sage Dating compares.
The UK site has closed, but the name lives on
The UK SilverSingles website has closed and no longer loads. The name carries on at a separate .com website, where a different company, SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., now operates SilverSingles and describes it as built on an independent member database. Whether that site is taking new sign-ups from the UK hasn’t been confirmed.
If your SilverSingles log-in stopped working, here is what we know, set out with dates. After that come the steps you can take, and a comparison with Sage Dating in case you’d like to meet someone while you decide.
The straight story on SilverSingles, date by date
Each entry says where it comes from, so you can look at it yourself.
- 12 October 2025
- The last copy of the UK homepage held by the Internet Archive is an ordinary sign-up page, titled “The Exclusive Dating Site for 50+ Singles”, with Great Britain listed among its country sites.
- 16 January 2026
- A court in Berlin placed Spark Networks Services GmbH, whose brands included SilverSingles, under preliminary insolvency administration. The trade site Global Dating Insights reported it on 21 January.
- About 1 May 2026
- A notice on the SilverSingles .com home page, saved by the Internet Archive on 1 May, said “SilverSingles has officially closed. Your account and conversations are no longer available”. It pointed members in the US, Canada and Australia to other dating services, and it didn’t mention the UK.
- 12 May 2026
- The service agreement and privacy policy now on the .com website carry this date. They name SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., a Delaware company with an address in Ontario, Canada, as the company providing SilverSingles.
- By 16 May 2026
- Archived copies show the .com website live again. Its About page describes a service for singles over 50 “built on a fresh foundation with an independent member database”.
- 12 August 2026
- Nominet, the registry for .uk domains, records a change to the old UK domain on this date and lists it as inactive. When we checked on 16 October, nothing loaded at the address.
- 18 August 2026
- The SilverSingles iPhone app in the UK App Store shows this as its release date, and an Android app is listed too. Both were updated on 12 and 13 October.
Put together, that’s a closure, a change of company and a new member database, with no sign that old accounts were carried across.
If you had a UK account, start here
- Assume the old account has gone. The closure notice said accounts and conversations were no longer available, and the current service describes its member database as independent. If a name or a message mattered to you, don’t count on getting it back.
- Look at your payments. If you paid by card, scan recent statements for anything from SilverSingles. If you subscribed through an app store, check the subscriptions listed in your phone’s settings. Your bank or the app store can help with a payment that looks wrong.
- Read before you rejoin. If you’d like to try the new SilverSingles, read its sign-up page and service agreement first. It’s a different company running a new service, and sign-ups from the UK aren’t confirmed.
- Bring your good habits with you. Wherever you date next, keep early conversations on the site and never send money to someone you have met online. Our guide to romance scams for singles over 40 covers the warning signs.
- Try a site that’s open to you today. Sage Dating is a UK site you can join today. You begin on a Classic membership, with a profile and daily matches, and our guide to whether Sage Dating is legit covers the costs, the renewals and the terms.

Meet people from their 40s through their 70s
SilverSingles is built for one stage of life. Its service agreement says members must be at least 50, and for many people that single focus is the whole attraction.
Sage Dating draws the circle wider. You need to be 18 to join, but the site is made for singles in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, and it welcomes people who are divorced, widowed or have never married. Among UK members today, roughly one in seven is aged 55 to 64 and nearly one in four is 65 or over. If you’re 47 and the over-50s sites sit a few years ahead of you, or you’d happily meet someone a decade either side of your own age, that spread helps. Our over 40s dating page shows who joins.
Age figures are for Sage Dating’s UK members on 16 October 2026, rounded.
Matches that come to you
SilverSingles has described its matching in two ways. On its old UK site it said it used the results of a personality test to match members with compatible singles aged 50 and over in their area, and sent new matches every day. Its current home page talks about local matches, and its app listing about connections built on compatibility and shared values. That’s all the company’s own wording.
Sage Dating builds each day’s suggestions from your preferred age range and gender, how far away people are and how recently they were last active. It also weighs what each person hopes to find, whether companionship, a long-term relationship or friendship, along with lifestyle, interests and religion. You can swipe, right for yes and left for no, or look at profiles one at a time.
Say hello at your own speed
On Sage Dating, VIP lifts the daily message limit and opens members-only chat rooms, plus group chats that hold up to 50 people, and you can open and answer anything a VIP member sends you. Polls, quizzes and status updates are there if you need a reason to start talking.
On SilverSingles, the home page mentions private messaging, and its help pages describe a voice call option on profiles, with a setting to block incoming calls. Which of these need a subscription is worth reading in its agreement before you pay. When a conversation is ready to become a coffee, our first date ideas and safety advice cover the practical side.
Know how the paid side works
SilverSingles
Its pages say anyone can sign up. The paid part is an auto-renewing subscription for what its agreement calls Paid Features, billed monthly, every three months or every six months, with a concierge add-on called Chairman.
Sage Dating
You start on a Classic membership. VIP and VIP Plus are the paid memberships, on plans that run from one week to 12 months. Every plan and its price is on the pricing page.
Before you subscribe anywhere
Find out how a subscription ends before you start one. On Sage Dating a plan of a week, a month, three months or six months renews automatically at the plan price until you stop it, and only the 12-month plan finishes without renewing.
When SilverSingles may suit you better
SilverSingles makes sense if you want a dating service for the over-50s alone, or if you like having a dating app on your iPhone or Android phone. First check that the new site accepts members from the UK, and remember that it’s a new service, so there’s no history to carry over. If an over-50s service is what you’re after, OurTime is another, and our OurTime comparison sets it beside Sage Dating.
When Sage Dating may suit you better
Sage Dating may suit you better if you’re in your 40s or would like a wider age range, if you want a UK site that’s open to join today, or if you’d rather use the browser than install an app. It has been online since 2019 and suits people who like to take things slowly. Our mature dating app page explains how to put it on your home screen.
SilverSingles in the UK: your questions
Has SilverSingles closed in the UK?
The UK website has closed. It no longer loads, and the .uk registry lists the old domain as inactive. The name itself lives on at a separate .com website, which SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc. now runs as a new service. Whether it accepts new members from the UK isn’t confirmed.
Who runs SilverSingles now?
SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., a Delaware company with an address in Ontario, Canada, according to the service agreement and privacy policy on the .com website, both dated 12 May 2026. SilverSingles was previously among the brands of Spark Networks Services GmbH, which a Berlin court placed under preliminary insolvency administration in January 2026.
Can I still log in to my old SilverSingles account?
Not on the old service. A closure notice saved on 1 May 2026 said accounts and conversations were no longer available, and the current service says it runs on an independent member database. If you want to try the new site, expect to start a new account.
Can I join SilverSingles from the UK?
That isn’t confirmed. The closure notice named members in the US, Canada and Australia and didn’t mention the UK. Against that, the privacy policy names a representative for the UK, and the apps are listed in the UK app stores. Read the sign-up page and service agreement yourself before you pay anything.
What is a good alternative to SilverSingles in the UK?
It depends on what you liked. OurTime is another service built only for people aged 50 and over, offered in the UK through Meetic, part of Match Group, and our OurTime comparison sets it beside Sage Dating. Match and eharmony take adults of any age, and we compare Match and eharmony too. Sage Dating suits singles in their 40s to 70s and runs in your browser. For more choices, our guide to mature dating sites in the UK sets out the options.
Is Sage Dating a site for over 50s?
It’s a site for singles in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, so members in their 50s and beyond are welcome, and so are people a little younger. You must be 18 or over to join.
